Verifying your identity before you sell

Before you can list a bike on the Marketplace, you'll complete a one-time identity verification through Plaid. This protects buyers from fraud and keeps the Marketplace a trusted place to buy and sell.

What you'll need

• A government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID)
• A device with a camera for a quick selfie
• Your bank account login or account/routing numbers

How it works

• Start a listing. The first time you list, you'll be prompted to verify.
• Photograph your ID. Plaid walks you through capturing both sides.
• Take a selfie. Plaid matches it to your ID photo.
• Link your bank. Connect the account where you want to receive payouts.
• Done. Verification typically completes in minutes, and you only do it once.

How your information is protected

• Your ID document and selfie go directly to Plaid, our identity verification partner. Bicycle Blue Book never sees or stores them — we receive only a pass or fail result.
• Bank linking is handled by Plaid and Stripe using encrypted, tokenized credentials. Bicycle Blue Book never sees or stores your bank login.
• Verification is a one-time step. Once you're verified, you can list and sell without repeating it.

Does Bicycle Blue Book keep a copy of my ID?

No. Your documents stay with Plaid. We only receive confirmation that your identity was verified.

What if verification fails?

Double-check that your ID is current and your photos are clear and glare-free, then try again. If it still fails, contact support.

Can I list before verifying?

No. Verification is required before your first listing goes live.
